Every Ha of grain maize grown produces 20,000 cubic metres of oxygen and fixes 40 tonnes of carbon dioxide, twice as much as a crop of wheat and four times as much as trees during their major growing period. This is a major benefit to the area where there is so much traffic and air pollution.
